This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster for the 1970 first release of Gamera vs. Jiger, directed by Noriaki Yuasa and produced by Daiei. The sixth film in the original Gamera series, it brings Japan’s flying turtle into battle against the formidable horned monster Jiger, with Osaka’s Expo ’70 providing a distinctive contemporary setting.

The story follows the removal of an ancient stone statue for exhibition at the World’s Fair, unleashing Jiger and placing the forthcoming event in danger. Combining giant-monster combat with a miniature-submarine expedition inside the injured Gamera, the film captures the imaginative, child-centred adventure of the Shōwa series. The poster features a spectacular colour montage of Gamera and Jiger towering above the Expo grounds. Gamera dominates the upper half, rising on fiery jets above his opponent, while aircraft, futuristic pavilions, and sweeping diagonal lines fill the composition with movement.

Large Japanese title lettering runs down the left in red, blue, green, and yellow, creating a particularly lively contrast with the monsters and the pale blue sky. Along the lower-right edge, three illustrated scene panels with Japanese captions preview the film’s unusual encounters and rescue adventure, while cast portraits complete the lower section.

The red promotional text along the right announces:

An appealing original country-of-origin poster for collectors of Gamera, Daiei kaijū cinema, Shōwa special effects, and Expo ’70 memorabilia, with an energetic design that makes full use of the B2 format.

Condition: Very Good+. The poster shows handling creases, light age toning, and minor edge wear. A very small piece is missing from one corner, and this has been taken into account in the price. The main imagery retains strong colour and visual impact, and the poster will display excellently once framed.
