“Gamera vs. Viras” (ガメラ対宇宙怪獣バイラス), Original Release Japanese B2 Movie Poster 1968, B2 Size (c. 51 × 73 cm) ZA152

Sale price $600.00

This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed for the 1968 release of Gamera vs. Viras (ガメラ対宇宙怪獣バイラス), the fourth entry in Daiei’s beloved giant‑turtle kaijū series.Wikipedia

Film background
Directed by Noriaki Yuasa, the film pits Gamera, the friend of children, against Viras—an alien cephalopod kaijū whose race invades Earth using a flying saucer and mind‑control powers. When two Japanese boy scouts are taken hostage aboard the UFO, Gamera must battle Viras in a fight that ranges from outer space to a fiery showdown in Japan. Like other Gamera films of the era, it mixes monster spectacle with kid‑centric adventure.

Poster design
The B2 artwork is gloriously packed. A massive illustration of Viras dominates, its tentacles wrapped around a modern high‑rise that crumbles under the assault. Gamera rockets in from frame right in classic flying pose, while fiery destruction engulfs the city below. In the margin, photo‑montage panels show additional scenes—children in peril, the alien spacecraft, underwater imagery—giving a dynamic “preview reel” feel. The bold vertical red title “ガメラ対宇宙怪獣バイラス” anchors the left side.

Rarity and condition
Vintage Gamera posters are highly collected, especially earlier entries from the 1960s. Like many tokusatsu pieces, they were heavily displayed in cinemas and children’s venues, so surviving B2s often show wear.
