“Licence to Kill” (消されたライセンス), Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 1989, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) ZA995
This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed in 1989 for the first Japanese release of Licence to Kill (消されたライセンス), starring Timothy Dalton as James Bond 007.
One of the darkest, most hard-edged entries in the Bond series, Licence to Kill pushes 007 into revenge-thriller territory as Bond goes rogue to take down a brutal drug lord—an intensity perfectly matched by Dalton’s steely, stripped-back portrayal of Bond.
Poster design
A bold, minimalist Japanese design built around a tight, iconic portrait of Dalton in tuxedo with a gold-toned pistol, set against deep black negative space. The vertical copy at right reads 「たとえライセンスを失おうとも…」 (“Even if he loses his licence…”), while the title 消されたライセンス is rendered in sleek metallic-gold typography across the bottom. The red roadshow date line 9月30日よりロードショー adds classic late-’80s Japanese release styling. Exceptionally frameable and one of the strongest Japanese character-poster designs for the Dalton era.
It is over 35 years old!
