“Diamonds Are Forever” (007/ダイヤモンドは永遠に), Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 1971, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) O788
This is an original Japanese B2 movie poster printed in 1971 for the first Japanese theatrical release of Diamonds Are Forever (007/ダイヤモンドは永遠に), a United Kingdom / United States James Bond film directed by Guy Hamilton, starring Sean Connery as 007, with Jill St. John and Lana Wood (and Charles Gray).
Film background
Released in 1971, Diamonds Are Forever marks Sean Connery’s return to the role after On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, sending Bond into a glittering, jet-set conspiracy involving diamond smuggling, high-tech weaponry, and Las Vegas spectacle. The film is pure early-’70s Bond—camp glamour, outrageous set-pieces, and iconic production design—sitting at the turning point between 1960s spy cool and the brighter, more fantastical Bond era that followed.
Poster design
A sensational Japanese B2 packed with maximum “Bond spectacle” energy. The huge 007 pistol logo crowns the sheet above the bold yellow Japanese title 「ダイヤモンドは永遠に」, while Connery stands centred in a classic tuxedo pose, flanked by two glamorous Bond girls in white and gold. Below, the imagery detonates into pure genre excess: helicopters, missiles, explosions, a sea platform, and futuristic hardware staged like a pop-art action collage. The colour palette—deep ocean blues, fiery reds, and metallic highlights—gives the design tremendous wall impact and makes this one of the most visually exuberant Connery-era Japanese one-sheets.
