This is an original Japanese B2 promotional poster printed in 2007 for the DVD rental release of Doraemon: Nobita’s New Great Adventure into the Underworld — The Seven Magic Users. The prominent “8.3 レンタルスタート!” announcement advertises rentals beginning on 3 August, while the yellow banner along the bottom promotes a related prize campaign.
Film background
Directed by Yukiyo Teramoto, this magical adventure follows Nobita after he uses Doraemon’s gadget to transform everyday reality into a world where magic exists. What begins as an exciting escape soon becomes a dangerous undertaking, drawing Doraemon and his friends into a struggle against sinister supernatural forces.
Based on the characters created by Fujiko F. Fujio, the film brings together the friendship, humour and imaginative gadgets central to Doraemon’s enduring appeal.
Poster design
A wonderfully colourful ensemble composition places Doraemon in a red, star-patterned magician’s hat at its centre. Nobita stands beside him with an air cannon, surrounded by familiar friends and the adventure’s magical characters.
Above them, a looming castle, twisted rock formations and flying creatures appear beneath an enormous yellow celestial sphere. The fiery orange sky contrasts beautifully with the sparkling blues and white clouds surrounding the heroes.
Large gold Japanese title lettering, flowing coloured ribbons and the cheerful rental announcement complete the design. The promotional banner at the base includes DVD packaging images and details of a campaign offering Doraemon-themed prizes, giving the poster a distinctive connection to Japanese video-rental culture.
