This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1962 for Dr. No, the debut feature of the James Bond franchise and the film that launched the 007 phenomenon. Directed by Terence Young and starring Sean Connery, Ursula Andress, Joseph Wiseman, and Jack Lord, Dr. No established the core Bond DNA—cold-blooded spycraft, exotic danger, and razor-sharp iconography—backed by the instantly recognisable Bond Theme. Ultra-scarce in Japan in any grade, and first-issue Japanese B2s are among the most sought-after early Bond posters worldwide.

Poster design

A bold, collage-style layout keyed to early-’60s pulp energy: Connery’s Bond takes aim, a huge silenced pistol slices diagonally across the composition, and Andress’s iconic image anchors the lower right with classic campaign glamour. The oversized magenta title text 「007は殺しの番号」 (“007 is a number that kills”) and stacked photo-montage action panels give the sheet that unmistakable vintage Japanese theatrical impact—a dynamic, pre-standardised Bond-era design that looks phenomenal framed.

Condition

Very Good overall. Please review the photos—they show the exact poster for sale.

There is minor paper loss along the edge (visible from the reverse) and the bottom right hand corner missing due to this poster being displayed in the cinema 6 decades ago. We have taken this into consideration when pricing. When cleverly framed with a matt border, the poster can display extremely well with the paper loss largely concealed.

It is over 62 years old!

It is not a reproduction or a reprint. Certificate of Authenticity included.
