“Female Prisoner Scorpion: Jailhouse 41” (女囚さそり 第41雑居房), Original Japanese First-Release Movie Poster 1972, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) P68

Sale price $300.00

This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed in 1972 for the first release of Female Prisoner Scorpion: Jailhouse 41 (女囚さそり 第41雑居房), the second film in Toei’s legendary Female Prisoner Scorpion / Joshū Sasori series. Starring the incomparable Meiko Kaji and directed by Shunya Itō—the duo who defined the series’ hypnotic blend of exploitation cinema, graphic stylisation, and feminist rage—this instalment is often cited as the most visually audacious of the cycle, pushing the franchise into even more surreal, theatrical territory.

This poster is in excellent / close to near mint condition and we have taken this into account when pricing. We have the same poster in varying conditions, priced accordingly.

Design
A stunning, illustration-led composition credited on the poster to Tōru Shinohara (篠原とおる). Kaji’s Scorpion stands centre-frame in a stylised, fashion-forward rendering—prison number “701” emblazoned across her torn uniform—set against a deep black field with a vivid red scorpion silhouette coiling behind her. The crisp blue border, bold graphic typography, and handwritten-style copy create a poster that feels closer to manga art and pop design than conventional studio advertising—an instantly recognisable, iconic image from the series.
