“Godzilla Final Wars” (ゴジラ ファイナル ウォーズ), Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 2004, Artwork by Noriyoshi Ohrai (生頼範義), Extremely Rare, Double-Sided for Cinema Lightbox Display, B1 Size (c. 73 × 103 cm)

Sale price $600.00

This is an original Japanese B1 poster printed in 2004 for Toho’s 50th‑anniversary Millennium‑era blockbuster Godzilla Final Wars (international title: Godzilla: Final Wars). A genuine theatrical display sheet, it retains the original date slug 「2004年12月4日(土)全国東宝系拡大ロードショー」 along the bottom and the farewell line 「さらば、ゴジラ。」 running vertically at the side—true first‑run materials from the film’s original campaign. This example is a double‑sided issue, with a mirror‑printed reverse intended for illuminated cinema lightbox display.

Why collectors prize this poster

Artwork by Noriyoshi Ohrai—the legendary illustrator behind some of the greatest Godzilla posters ever produced, and internationally celebrated for his iconic Empire Strikes Back artwork.

Scarce double‑sided B1 format used for illuminated theatre lightboxes; printed in comparatively small numbers and far harder to find than standard one‑sided cinema posters.

50th‑anniversary “farewell” imagery uniting Godzilla, the human cast, aliens, and a frenzy of fan‑favourite monsters in one immense, cinematic composition—instantly recognisable and superb for centerpiece display.

Poster design
Ohrai’s oil‑painted montage is breathtaking on this large canvas: a colossal, ember‑eyed Godzilla dominates the upper half while an explosive crowd of heroes, villains, Xiliens, and kaiju surges below in a dense, apocalyptic clash. The central line 「シリーズ50年の集大成 最高峰にして最終作」 underscores the film’s end‑of‑an‑era ambition, while the side tag 「さらば、ゴジラ。」 gives the poster genuine farewell gravitas. You can even see the canvas grain and brushwork carried through the printed inks, and Ohrai’s signature appears at the lower right—classic Ohrai scale, texture, and drama.

Toho commissioned the legendary illustrator Noriyoshi Ohrai, famed for his international poster for The Empire Strikes Back, to create promotional artwork worthy of the franchise’s 50th anniversary and its all‑out “final battle” event film.

The artist’s technique—fine-tuned over decades of painting book covers, magazine illustrations, and epic movie posters—adds immense depth, movement, and intensity to the scene. Even in print, the poster preserves the feel of the original painted surface, with visible texture and an unmistakably hand-crafted dramatic sweep.

The double‑sided B1 format was produced in very limited quantities, reserved for illuminated cinema lightboxes and select major theatre displays. Issued only for the film’s original theatrical campaign and seldom saved after use, it is one of the hardest Godzilla Final Wars posters to find today, especially with Ohrai artwork and in genuine theatre‑used condition.
