“Only Yesterday” (おもひでぽろぽろ), Original Japanese First Release Movie Poster 1991, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) ZA770

Sale price $110.00

This is an original Japanese B2 poster issued in Japan for the first domestic theatrical release of Only Yesterday (おもひでぽろぽろ, 1991), the quietly extraordinary Studio Ghibli feature directed by Isao Takahata and produced by Hayao Miyazaki. A gentle, deeply human film about memory, growing up, and the choices that shape adulthood, it follows Taeko as she travels to the countryside and finds her present-day self intertwined with vivid childhood recollections. For many collectors, this is one of Ghibli’s most mature and emotionally resonant works—subtle, reflective, and beautifully observed.

Poster design

A calm, luminous Japanese design that perfectly captures the film’s tone. The central image places Taeko and the young girl together in a softly lit classroom—hand in hand—like memory made visible. The tagline at left reads 「私はワタシと旅にでる。」 (“I’m going on a journey with myself.”), an elegant line that encapsulates the film’s introspective premise. At the bottom, the title 「おもひでぽろぽろ」 appears in large, clean blue typography, with the credit line above noting 宮崎 駿プロデュース・高畑 勲監督作品 (Produced by Hayao Miyazaki / Directed by Isao Takahata). Minimal, warm, and exceptionally frame-friendly—a true gallery-style Ghibli poster.
