“Pokémon – Lugia, Ash & Pikachu” (ポケットモンスター), Original Japanese Banpresto Poster 2000, Landscape B2 Size (73 × 51 cm) — ZA1216

An original 2000 Japanese B2 Pokémon poster produced by Banpresto for its Banpre Chara Poster collectible prize series. The lower-right markings identify this design as No. 2, with lot number 000401 and the 非売品 (“not for sale”) designation.

The artwork captures Pokémon’s expansion into the early Johto era, bringing together familiar characters with Lugia, Heracross, and Ledyba. Lugia had taken centre stage in the franchise’s second feature film, released in Japan in 1999 as Revelation Lugia and internationally as Pokémon the Movie 2000.

Lugia dominates the composition, its enormous wings extending across almost the entire width of the poster. Ash Ketchum, known in Japan as Satoshi, rides on its back with Pikachu beside him. Their delighted expressions give the scene an immediate sense of adventure.

Charizard and Butterfree fly alongside Lugia on the left, while Ledyba and Pidgeotto occupy the upper right. Beedrill and Heracross appear below, completing an energetic arrangement that draws the eye around the central figure.

The tropical setting is particularly attractive, with turquoise water, pale beaches, densely wooded islands, and distant mountain peaks. Lugia’s pale colouring stands out against the deep blue sea, while the orange, red, and yellow supporting characters bring warmth to the composition.

The green Japanese Pocket Monsters logo sits at the upper left. Banpresto’s branding and manufacturing details remain discreetly positioned at the lower right, allowing the expansive illustration to fill the sheet.
