“Pikachu’s Island Adventure” (ピカチュウのわんぱくアイランド), Original Japanese DVD Promotional Poster 2007, B2 Size (51.5 × 72.8 cm) — T213
This is an original Japanese B2 promotional poster printed in 2007 for the DVD release of Pikachu’s Island Adventure, a cheerful Pokémon short originally produced for ANA’s in-flight entertainment programme.
The prominent “6.22” announcement advertises the Japanese DVD release on 22 June 2007. A separate banner along the bottom promotes the forthcoming theatrical adventure Dialga vs. Palkia vs. Darkrai, making this an appealing piece of Pokémon advertising from the early Diamond and Pearl era.
Originally shown on ANA flights in 2006, the short follows Pikachu and friends as they discover an island playground. When Meowth and his companions attempt to claim the play area for themselves, the Pokémon join forces to win it back. Its combination of summer adventure, playful rivalry and familiar characters gives the story an enduring appeal.
The poster celebrates that atmosphere with an exuberant composition dominated by a large, winking Pikachu, arms outstretched against a brilliant blue sky. Meowth fills the foreground beside him, while Wobbuffet, Pichu, Mime Jr., Buizel, Chatot and other Pokémon crowd into the surrounding space.
The characters overlap at different scales, giving the artwork a lively sense of movement. Bright yellow, turquoise, orange and green create a sunny palette, while white clouds and glimpses of the island landscape provide a colourful backdrop.
Across the top, the Japanese title appears in oversized, rounded lettering decorated with a flower and palm-tree motif. A large green circular panel announces the DVD release, while the promotional line beneath the illustration reads:
“The original anime previously only available through ANA in-flight screenings finally arrives!”
Additional panels advertise the accompanying television episode featuring Magikarp and Feebas, together with a choice of normal audio and Pokémon Voice Mode.
The contrasting cinema advertisement across the bottom features Dialga, Palkia and Darkrai, linking Pikachu’s lighthearted island adventure with the larger spectacle of that summer’s Pokémon film. These original promotional details give the poster particular interest for collectors of Japanese Pokémon releases and franchise memorabilia.
