This is an original Japanese B2 poster issued in Japan for the first domestic theatrical release of Pom Poko (平成狸合戦ぽんぽこ, 1994), the wonderful Studio Ghibli feature directed by Isao Takahata and planned/produced by Hayao Miyazaki. A uniquely Japanese blend of folklore, satire, and environmental parable, the film follows a community of tanuki (raccoon dogs) fighting to protect their habitat from relentless urban development—moving from comedy to tragedy and back again with Takahata’s trademark humanism.
