Sale price $125.00

This is an original Japanese B3 double-sided theatrical poster for Snoopy Come Home / 「スヌーピーの大冒険」, printed for the film’s first Japanese release in 1973.

Based on Charles M. Schulz’s Peanuts comic strip, the film was directed by Bill Melendez and released as the second Peanuts feature film. This Japanese poster is especially appealing because it is double-sided, combining a colourful theatrical front design with a detailed reverse containing story, character, music, and production information.

Film background
Snoopy Come Home is a 1972 American animated musical comedy-drama directed by Bill Melendez and written by Charles M. Schulz. The film follows Snoopy as he leaves Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang after receiving a letter from his former owner, Lila, setting off a bittersweet story about friendship, loyalty, memory, and saying goodbye.

The film is also notable for featuring Woodstock on screen and for its music by the Sherman Brothers, best known for their work on classic Disney productions including Mary Poppins, The Jungle Book, and Bedknobs and Broomsticks.

Poster design
The front of the poster is bright, playful, and unmistakably Peanuts. At centre, Snoopy and Woodstock travel across a globe-like blue-and-pink form, with Snoopy carrying his bindle and wearing his famous red travelling cap. Around them are smaller scenes and character groupings, including Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Sally, and other Peanuts characters.

The Japanese title 「スヌーピーの大冒険」 appears prominently at the top in red, with the English title SNOOPY, COME HOME! printed vertically in purple on the right. The poster also identifies the film as the Japanese-dubbed version / 日本語吹替え版, and includes the phrase 第2弾, reflecting its position as the second major Peanuts feature.

The reverse is richly printed in red and black, functioning almost like a mini programme. It includes extensive Japanese story text, staff details, song listings, character introductions, and Peanuts illustrations, including a large Snoopy surfboard image and small circular character portraits. This makes the poster especially charming as both a display piece and a period Japanese promotional artefact.
