“Yakuza 5” (龍が如く5 夢、叶えし者), Original Japanese Video Game Promotional Poster 2012, Osaka Version, SEGA / PlayStation 3, B2 Format (c. 51 × 73 cm) — T143
This is an original Japanese B2 promotional poster for Yakuza 5, originally titled Ryū ga Gotoku 5: Yume, Kanaeshi Mono. Produced for the game’s original 2012 PlayStation 3 campaign, this Osaka version celebrates the bustling entertainment district of Sōtenbori, one of the principal settings in SEGA’s iconic crime-drama series.
Released in Japan on 6 December 2012, Yakuza 5 expands its story across Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Sapporo, and Nagoya, intertwining the ambitions and struggles of five playable protagonists. Kazuma Kiryu begins the game living under an assumed identity as a taxi driver in Fukuoka, while events across the country draw the separate narratives into a wider underworld conflict.
Osaka’s Sōtenbori, inspired by the real city’s Dōtonbori district, provides the setting for Haruka Sawamura’s pursuit of an idol career and a major part of Shun Akiyama’s story. Its canal, illuminated restaurants, oversized signs, and crowded shopping streets make it one of the series’ most recognisable urban environments.
Printed on one B2 sheet, the design centres on an imposing portrait of Kazuma Kiryu, wearing his familiar grey suit and open burgundy shirt. He holds a cigarette near his face, with smoke rising through the scenes above. His serious expression contrasts with the lively streetscape behind him, giving the composition the atmosphere of Japanese crime-film advertising.
The background is arranged as diagonal strips of film frames, filled with views of the game’s Osaka setting. Canal-side buildings, restaurants, bars, and brightly illuminated shopfronts appear within black borders, while oversized sprocket-hole graphics reinforce the cinematic theme. “RYU GA GOTOKU 5” repeats in gold across the upper strip.
A broad bronze-gold band decorated with fine dragon linework crosses the centre, carrying the regional designation:
「大阪 OSAKA」
“Osaka.”
The surrounding montage includes the Zuboraya pufferfish sign, Kani Dōraku’s giant crab, and the Daruma restaurant figure, alongside shop signs and advertising for businesses such as Daikoku Drug. These details capture the series’ distinctive blend of fictional storytelling and recognisable Japanese commercial culture.
Warm evening light and colourful night scenes give this version a particularly rich palette, with the gold city banner complementing the reds, yellows, and browns of the restaurant displays.
The lower section is anchored by the 龍が如く5 logo, with its sweeping red numeral and pale lettering. Beneath it appears the Japanese subtitle:
「夢、叶えし者」
“Those Who Fulfil Their Dreams.”
The Ryū ga Gotoku Studio logo occupies the lower-left corner, with ©SEGA at the lower right. The Osaka designation, detailed city montage, and commanding Kiryu portrait make this an appealing example for collectors of Yakuza / Like a Dragon, SEGA, PlayStation, and Japanese video game advertising.
Condition: Very Good+ to Excellent. Small pinholes and associated surface wear are visible near the upper corners, together with light handling creases and minor edge wear.
