“Zero Monster” / “Invasion of Astro-Monster” (怪獣大戦争 キングギドラ対ゴジラ), Original Japanese Re-Release Movie Poster 1970 (film 1965), B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) I76
This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed in 1970 for the re-release of Toho’s kaiju/sci-fi classic Invasion of Astro-Monster (怪獣大戦争), also known in Japan by the campaign subtitle キングギドラ対ゴジラ and often referred to in international markets as “Zero Monster.”
Directed by Ishirō Honda with special effects by Eiji Tsuburaya, this film is a cornerstone of mid-1960s Toho spectacle: aliens from Planet X enlist Earth’s help to stop King Ghidorah—only to attempt control of Godzilla and Rodan themselves, leading to an all-out monster war.
Poster design
A superb, high-impact Japanese re-release design dominated by an explosive battle tableau: King Ghidorah fills the sky, blasting gravity beams as Godzilla counters below, with UFOs and space imagery amplifying the “invasion” theme. The bold blue header 怪獣大戦争 and the massive yellow/red title キングギドラ対ゴジラ anchor the lower field, with the sheet clearly marked ニュープリント (“new print”) and カラー作品—a spectacular, frame-ready piece of classic Toho kaiju art.
It is over 55 years old!
