“A View to a Kill” (007/美しき獲物たち), Original Japanese B1 Warner Home Video Poster 1986, B1 Size (c. 72 × 103 cm)
This is an original Japanese B1 promotional poster produced by Warner‑Pioneer for the home‑video release of A View to a Kill, Roger Moore’s final outing as James Bond 007. Released in 1985 and co‑starring Grace Jones and Christopher Walken, the film has become a beloved slice of mid‑’80s Bond—complete with Duran Duran’s hit title song, Silicon Valley villainy and a vertigo‑inducing climax on the Golden Gate Bridge. This large B1 was intended for video‑rental shops rather than cinemas, so it survives in far smaller numbers than the standard theatrical B2s.
Design
The design puts Bond and May Day centre‑stage. A painted full‑length image of Roger Moore in tuxedo and bow tie stands back‑to‑back with Grace Jones’ May Day in her iconic black leotard and heels, lighting a stick of dynamite as stylised smoke curls upwards. The title A VIEW TO A KILL slashes diagonally across the lower half in bold red typography, with “ALBERT R. BROCCOLI presents ROGER MOORE as IAN FLEMING’S JAMES BOND 007” stacked neatly above. Down both vertical borders runs a strip of colour stills from the film—car chases, fire‑streaked action, Zorin’s blimp and key character portraits—giving the layout the feel of a contact sheet or oversized lobby‑card montage. The Warner Home Video and Warner‑Pioneer logos anchor the bottom edge, clearly marking this as a Japanese rental‑shop display piece.
Condition
Very Good. The image area is clean with strong, unfaded colour and excellent gloss. There is scattered age‑related foxing and light toning visible in the white background, particularly along the upper border and outer margins (see close‑up photos), plus minor edge wear and handling ripples from display. Please review all images (front and back); they show the exact poster for sale.
