This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster from the 1950 first release of MGM’s Andy Hardy’s Blonde Trouble, released in Japan as 青春学園 (Seishun Gakuen). Now over seven decades old, the sheet retains particularly attractive colours, with a turquoise background, vivid red lettering and a playful heart-shaped central composition.

Directed by George B. Seitz, the 1944 comedy stars Mickey Rooney alongside Bonita Granville, with real-life twins Lee and Lyn Wilde providing the romantic complications. Part of MGM’s long-running Andy Hardy series, the story follows Andy’s arrival at college, where mistaken identities and the twins’ schemes disrupt his introduction to campus life. 

The Japanese design places a startled Rooney between the two blonde sisters, who lean towards his cheeks from either side. Their portraits sit inside a large red heart suspended from an illustrated chain, its white border decorated with coloured jewel-like circles. Oversized red Japanese lettering fills the top, while painted clouds, campus buildings and trees complete the cheerful collegiate setting.

The English title appears below the portrait in blue and yellow. Across the lower portion, the Japanese promotional copy evokes “the dream of first love, the taste of a kiss… the joy of youth discovered for the first time in romantic college life.” The MGM lion emblem appears at the right, with a Motion Picture Export Association emblem at the left.

An appealing example of early post-war Japanese film advertising, combining Hollywood portrait photography with decorative illustration and bold Japanese typography. Its bright palette and romantic imagery give it considerable display appeal.

Very Good+ vintage condition for its age, with great colours. The sheet shows horizontal and vertical folds, handling creases, light surface wear and minor edge wear. Age toning and a small red handwritten notation are visible on the reverse. The central image remains well preserved, and the poster should display very well once framed.
