This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1989 for the first theatrical release of Tim Burton’s Batman, starring Michael Keaton, Jack Nicholson, and Kim Basinger. Warner Bros.’ mega-hit reignited the superhero blockbuster, pairing Burton’s gothic vision with Danny Elfman’s thunderous score.
Design
Pure iconography: the metallic, glow-rimmed bat emblem fills the frame against jet black, with cast names in Japanese at the crown and the bold title 「バットマン」 over the English BATMAN. at base above the credit block. The minimalist “logo only” campaign became one of the most recognizable movie posters of the late ’80s.
