“Beverly Hills Cop III” / 「ビバリーヒルズ・コップ3」, Original First Release Japanese Movie Poster 1994, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) ZA949

Sale price $100.00

This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed in 1994 for the first Japanese release of Beverly Hills Cop III / 「ビバリーヒルズ・コップ3」, the third entry in the hit action-comedy series starring Eddie Murphy as Detective Axel Foley.

A bright, highly displayable 1990s Japanese release poster, this design places Murphy front and centre against a vivid Beverly Hills sunset, with strong local typography and playful campaign imagery.

Film background
Released in 1994, Beverly Hills Cop III follows Detroit detective Axel Foley as he returns to Southern California after the murder of his boss. His investigation leads him to Wonder World, a popular theme park being used as a front for a major counterfeiting operation.

The film was directed by John Landis, reuniting with Eddie Murphy after Trading Places and Coming to America. The cast includes Eddie Murphy, Judge Reinhold, Héctor Elizondo, Theresa Randle, and Timothy Carhart. While the film has a different tone from the first two entries, it remains a key 1990s continuation of one of the most recognisable American action-comedy franchises.

Poster design
The Japanese poster is bold, playful, and unmistakably 1990s. Eddie Murphy stands smiling at centre, holding a handgun and wearing Axel Foley’s familiar Detroit-style varsity jacket. Behind him is a saturated orange Beverly Hills sunset, lined with silhouetted palm trees and the classic Beverly Hills shield sign.

The composition is given an additional comic edge by the framing device of a woman’s legs on either side, creating a cheeky, attention-grabbing campaign image.

The large white headline at the top reads:

「エディ・マーフィ待望のシリーズ 最新第3弾!」
“Eddie Murphy’s long-awaited series — the latest third instalment!”

Above the title, the white copy asks:

「奴はどこのコップだ!?」
“What kind of cop is this guy!?”

The lower section is anchored by the enormous red-and-white Japanese title 「コップ3」, with the Beverly Hills shield emblem placed to the left. The overall effect is bright, commercial, and highly nostalgic — a strong Japanese campaign piece for a major 1990s Hollywood franchise.
