“Confidentially Yours” (日曜日が待ち遠しい!), Original Japanese Release Movie Poster 1983, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) ZA735
This is an original Japanese B2 poster issued in Japan for the 1983 theatrical release of Confidentially Yours (1983), François Truffaut’s witty, noir-inflected romantic thriller starring Fanny Ardant and Jean-Louis Trintignant. One of Truffaut’s final films, it plays like a love letter to classic detective serials—brisk, playful, and irresistibly stylish—balancing suspense with flirtation and rapid-fire plot turns. Japanese posters for Truffaut titles are particularly collectible, and this is a superb, design-forward example.
Poster design
A beautifully composed, minimalist art-house design centred on a grainy black-and-white street photograph—Ardant looking over her shoulder in a narrow alley, the mood pure Parisian noir. The vertical Japanese title 「日曜日が待ち遠しい!」 (“I can’t wait for Sunday!”) runs down the right edge in bold, colour-block typography, creating a striking contrast against the clean pale field. A small circular portrait of Truffaut near the top adds auteur prestige, while the angled VIVEMENT DIMANCHE! stamp in red-blue provides graphic punch. The lower inset still of Ardant and Trintignant reinforces the film’s romantic sparring energy. Extremely frame-friendly—clean, modern, and unmistakably Truffaut.
