“Dead or Alive 2”, Original Japanese PlayStation 2 Promotional Poster 2000, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) Q61

Sale price $125.00

This is an original Japanese B2 promotional poster printed in 2000 for the PlayStation 2 release of Dead or Alive 2, Tecmo’s celebrated 3D fighting game. Issued for shop and retail promotion in Japan, it was created to advertise the title during the early PS2 era, when the series was widely recognised for pushing polygonal character rendering and fast, fluid combat. Original Japanese game posters of this kind were produced for commercial display rather than general sale, which makes surviving examples especially appealing to collectors today.

Background
Originally developed and published by Tecmo, Dead or Alive 2 is one of the defining fighting games of its generation, building on the success of the first title with faster gameplay, counter-based mechanics, and a polished visual presentation that became closely associated with the franchise. This particular poster belongs to the PlayStation 2 campaign, as indicated by the PS2 branding and DVD-ROM mark, and captures the moment when the game was being positioned as part of the new console generation.

Poster design
This is a superb and highly collectible early-2000s Japanese game poster. The composition is dominated by two of the title’s most recognisable characters: Leifang in the foreground, posed in her white qipao, and Jann Lee looming behind with a hard, dramatic gaze. The warm, fiery background and glossy 3D rendering give the sheet exactly the visual identity collectors associate with the PS2 launch period. The Japanese tagline at upper left—suggesting that all other games will fade by comparison—adds to the poster’s strong period charm, while the PlayStation 2 and Tecmo logos firmly place it within the most exciting years of early 2000s console culture.

For collectors of fighting games, PlayStation history, and Japanese video game ephemera, it is an especially attractive display piece.
