“Death Race 2000” (デス・レース2000年), Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 1975, Artwork by Seito, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) Q270
This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster for Death Race 2000 (デス・レース2000年), the cult dystopian action film directed by Paul Bartel and produced by Roger Corman. The film stars David Carradine, Simone Griffeth, Sylvester Stallone, Mary Woronov, and Roberta Collins.
A landmark of 1970s exploitation cinema, Death Race 2000 imagines a violent future America where a televised cross-country road race turns killing into public entertainment. Its mix of satire, speed, violence, outrageous costume design, and black comedy made it one of the defining cult films of the Roger Corman era.
Poster design
This Japanese B2 features sensational original campaign artwork by Seito, packed with explosive futuristic action. The composition is dominated by a speeding red death-race car, surrounded by motorcycles, weapons, masked drivers, airborne vehicles, fire, crashes, and violent road-race chaos.
At the top, the red Japanese headline reads:
「21世紀の恐怖が爆走する!!」
“The terror of the 21st century runs wild!!”
The black text at upper left reads:
「驚異の超近代マシンが激突する死の大レース!」
“A deadly race where astonishing ultra-modern machines collide!”
The massive title デス・レース2000年 anchors the lower section in bold red, black, and white typography. The result is a superb example of Japanese exploitation poster design: loud, graphic, violent, and highly displayable.
