This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed in 1992 for the first Japanese release of Europa (ヨーロッパ), directed by Lars von Trier.
A hypnotic, formally daring work set in post-war Germany, Europa blends noir intrigue with political unease and dreamlike narration—one of von Trier’s most visually distinctive early films and the culmination of his “Europa trilogy.” The Japanese copy on the poster highlights its major festival recognition, including honours at Cannes and Sitges (as printed on the sheet).

A superb, atmosphere-heavy Japanese design built around the film’s recurring motif of time and hypnosis: a large clock face dominates the centre, with a silhouetted figure and gun set against the dial, while inset stills punctuate the composition. The bold brush-style Japanese title ヨーロッパ anchors the lower field in deep red, with the director credit ラース・フォン・トリアー監督作品 prominently printed—minimal, noirish, and extremely frameable.
