This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed in 1973 for the first release of Female Prisoner Scorpion 701: Grudge Song (女囚さそり 701号怨み節), the fourth film in Toei’s legendary Female Prisoner Scorpion / Joshū Sasori series. Starring the incomparable Meiko Kaji, this entry continues the franchise’s ferocious blend of exploitation cinema, graphic stylisation, and revenge-myth storytelling—directed by Yasuharu Hasebe (長谷部安春), with Kaji’s Scorpion persona pushed into an even more iconic, near-mythic register.
This poster is in excellent / close to near mint condition and we have taken this into account when pricing. We have the same poster in varying conditions, priced accordingly.
Design
A spectacular, high-contrast alternate campaign design: Kaji’s Scorpion appears in a stark, confrontational pose—shotgun in hand—paired with a prowling black panther emerging from the red, jagged graphic field behind her. The design is anchored by the bold yellow-and-red series title 「女囚さそり」 and the large subtitle 「701号怨み節」, while the dramatic copy at the top intensifies the “curse of revenge” atmosphere. It’s one of the most visually aggressive and instantly recognisable poster images of the entire series—pure 1970s Toei cult energy.
