“Godzilla Wonderland” / 「ゴジラワンダーランド」, Original Japanese Kintetsu Abeno Nakazuri Promotional Poster 1995, Godzilla vs. Destoroyah Exhibition Event, Horizontal Train-Advertising Format E260
This is a rare original Japanese nakazuri promotional poster for 「ゴジラワンダーランド」 / Godzilla Wonderland, a special Godzilla exhibition event held at Kintetsu Abeno during the 1995–1996 New Year holiday season.
This is not a standard theatrical movie poster, but an original Japanese train-advertising / event-promotion poster produced to promote the “Godzilla vs. Destoroyah” public commemorative event and associated winter children’s exhibition programme.
Event background
The poster advertises 「ゴジラVSデストロイア 公開記念イベント ’96新春ちびっこスペシャル ゴジラワンダーランド」 — a New Year children’s special event tied to the release of Godzilla vs. Destoroyah.
The event was held at Kintetsu Abeno, with dates printed on the poster as:
12月28日(木)〜31日(日)
1月3日(水)〜5日(金)
This dates the poster to late 1995, advertising an event running from 28 December 1995 to 5 January 1996.
The programme was designed as a family-oriented Godzilla attraction, featuring displays, dioramas, historical material, monster exhibits, and interactive areas aimed at children during the winter school holidays.
Poster design
This horizontal poster is a superb example of 1990s Japanese pop-culture event advertising. The design is deliberately high-impact: a huge roaring Burning Godzilla dominates the centre against a brilliant yellow ground, making the poster instantly visible in the visual clutter of a commuter train interior.
Around Godzilla are inset exhibition images and red starburst callouts advertising different themed areas of the event, including:
ゴジラの最新熱闘ランド — Godzilla’s latest fierce-battle land
Godzilla’s famous-battles land
Godzilla history land
Godzilla play land
The central red copy reads:
「ガオーッ!みんなでおいで、まってるぞ〜。」
“Gao! Everyone come along — I’m waiting!”
At the bottom, the large green title 「ゴジラワンダーランド」 anchors the composition, with the Kintetsu and 近鉄阿倍野 branding prominently printed below. The overall effect is bright, bold, and unmistakably Japanese: part department-store event poster, part railway advertisement, part Godzilla children’s festival ephemera.
Nakazuri format
This poster was designed in the style of a nakazuri — a horizontal advertising poster displayed inside Japanese trains, typically above the windows or doors. Posters of this type were temporary promotional objects, installed for short campaigns and then removed, discarded, or replaced.
Because they were used in public transport advertising rather than sold as merchandise, surviving examples are much scarcer than standard commercial posters, particularly for major pop-culture subjects such as Godzilla.
Condition
Excellent condition. Please review the photograph carefully, as it shows the exact poster for sale.
The poster presents beautifully, with bright yellow colour, strong Godzilla imagery, crisp green title typography, and excellent overall display impact. Only light signs of age, storage, or handling are visible, consistent with careful preservation of an original 1990s Japanese promotional poster.
