“SD Gundam: Musha, Knight, Commando – Scramble!” (武者・騎士・コマンド SDガンダム緊急出撃), Original Japanese First-Release Movie Poster 1991, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) ZA135

Sale price $125.00

This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1991 for the first theatrical release of Musha, Knight, Commando: SD Gundam Scramble. Produced by Sunrise and distributed by Shochiku, the animated short opened in Japan on 16 March 1991, accompanying Mobile Suit Gundam F91.

Bringing together three distinctive SD Gundam heroes, the film celebrates the imaginative mixture of samurai adventure, medieval fantasy and military action that gives this branch of the Gundam universe its character.

Film background
Written and directed by Takeyuki Kanda, the story follows Musha Gundam, Knight Gundam and Command Gundam, summoned to confront a powerful cosmic Demon King who threatens the lives of an entire community.

The “SD,” or Super Deformed, style transforms Gundam’s familiar mechanical designs into compact characters with oversized heads and expressive eyes. Here, the three heroes retain their individual identities: Musha’s elaborate samurai armour, Knight’s sword-and-shield fantasy styling and Command’s heavily armed military equipment.

Their shared adventure makes the film an appealing crossover within the expanding SD Gundam world of the early 1990s.

Poster design
A colourful, densely illustrated composition places the three heroes against a towering red-and-gold monster, with a deep blue background and vivid orange flames intensifying the action.

Musha Gundam attacks from the upper left, Knight Gundam advances with his sword at the left, and Command Gundam appears heavily armed at the right. The pink-haired heroine and her airborne feline companion add a playful element to the upper section.

Across the lower foreground, three enormous helmeted faces give the design an immediate visual impact. The central hot-pink SDガンダム title, set against bright yellow, provides a bold focal point amid the surrounding characters.

The diagonal Japanese tagline announces:

“Defeat the evil Demon King! Three great heroes arrive!”

An energetic display piece for collectors of SD Gundam, Sunrise animation and early-1990s Japanese anime posters.
