“Rica 3: Juvenile’s Lullaby” (混血児リカ ハマぐれ子守唄), Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 1973, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) ZA145

Sale price $110.00

This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1973 for the first theatrical release of Rica 3: Juvenile’s Lullaby (混血児リカ ハマぐれ子守唄), the third and final entry in the Rika series. The film was directed by Kōzaburō Yoshimura, written by Kaneto Shindō from Bonten Taro’s manga, produced by Kindai Eiga Kyokai / Office 203, distributed by Toho, and released in Japan on 23 June 1973.

Film background
The film stars Rika Aoki in the title role, alongside Jirō Kawarazaki, Masami Sōda, Reiko Kasahara, Taeko Kurihara, Taiji Tonoyama, Ichiei Hatsui, Yoshie Ichige, and Kunie Tanaka. Running approximately 85 minutes, it follows Rika as she escapes juvenile detention, returns to Yokohama, and becomes embroiled in another violent, freewheeling adventure involving gangsters, biker action, and criminal intrigue. As the final film in the trilogy, it occupies a distinctive place in early-1970s Japanese exploitation and delinquent-girl cinema.

Poster design
This is a superb and highly arresting original Japanese release design. Rika dominates the composition front and centre, standing defiantly with a long gun in hand, wearing an open white shirt against a stylised seaside backdrop. Around her are action vignettes of speedboats, motorcycles, violence, and pursuit, while the large portrait at upper left and the target motif intensify the sense of danger and pulp drama. The bold red title at the bottom gives the sheet tremendous visual force, and the small English wording “GI BABY RIKA” within the design adds another layer of period charm. It is an exceptionally strong display piece, and a standout example of early-1970s Japanese sukeban / pinky violence style poster art.
