“RoboCop” (ロボコップ), Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 1987, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) ZA829
This is an original Japanese B2 poster issued in Japan for the theatrical release of RoboCop (1987), Paul Verhoeven’s iconic sci-fi action classic starring Peter Weller as the murdered Detroit cop Alex Murphy resurrected as a corporate-controlled cyborg law enforcer. Brutal, satirical, and endlessly quotable, RoboCop is one of the defining films of the 1980s—mixing ultra-violent action with razor-sharp commentary on privatisation, media, and the dehumanising logic of corporate power.
Poster design
A superb, high-impact Japanese campaign image built around RoboCop’s most recognisable visual: the metallic cyborg stepping from a police cruiser, framed by neon city bokeh and flashing lights. The Japanese copy at upper left leans into the film’s core hook—“Human or machine?”—and sells RoboCop as an unstoppable “violent hero.” The huge katakana title 「ロボコップ」 is rendered in bold, futuristic block lettering across the lower third, with the English logo ROBOCOP beneath.
