This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster for Tentacles (1977), Ovidio G. Assonitis’ Italian‑American killer‑octopus film starring John Huston, Shelley Winters and Henry Fonda—one of the wildest of the post‑Jaws eco‑horror wave.

The illustration is by legendary Japanese artist Noriyoshi Ohrai (生頼範義), famed for his international Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back campaign and numerous Godzilla and Toho science‑fiction posters. His work is hugely prized by collectors for its painterly realism and dramatic composition.

Design
Ohrai unleashes a full pulp seascape: a colossal octopus wraps its tentacles around a yacht, dragging victims toward its beak, while divers, boats and terrified faces are arranged around the maelstrom. Deep greens and sea‑blues contrast with the orange title block and bold white TENTACLES logotype, with Japanese copy running vertically down the side to emphasise the “超大型映画” (huge‑scale movie) spectacle.
