This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1977 for the revival of Joseph L. Mankiewicz’s epic Cleopatra (1963), starring Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, and Rex Harrison. Marketed domestically as a “完全ニュープリント (new complete print),” this campaign reintroduced Fox’s lavish, Oscar-winning spectacle to Japanese audiences.
Design
A grand, romance-forward montage: Taylor’s jeweled profile and cobra diadem dominate the left field while Roman pageantry, naval warfare, and the central trio (Taylor–Burton–Harrison) unfold across the right. The monumental red Japanese title 「クレオパトラ」 anchors the base above Fox credits; an Eirin code appears at lower right—sumptuous, prestige imagery befitting the film’s scale.
