Sale price $125.00

This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed for the 2025 Japanese release of Les Amants du Pont-Neuf 4K Restoration (ポンヌフの恋人 4Kレストア版), Leos Carax’s celebrated 1991 French film starring Juliette Binoche and Denis Lavant. The 4K restoration opened in Japan from 20 December 2025, distributed by Eurospace.

Film background
Directed by Leos Carax, Les Amants du Pont-Neuf is the final work in his early “Alex” trilogy, following Boy Meets Girl and Mauvais Sang. Set around Paris’s Pont-Neuf during its closure for repairs, the film follows Alex, a homeless street performer, and Michèle, a painter losing her eyesight, as they enter a volatile and consuming romance. The film was first released in Japan in 1992 and famously became a major art-house success at Cinema Rise in Shibuya.

The 2025 Japanese release presents the film in a 4K restoration, restored from the original 35mm negative with the cooperation of Carax; Eurospace notes that cinematographer Caroline Champetier supervised the restoration and colour correction.

Poster design
A striking modern Japanese restoration design, built around a mirrored vertical composition of Juliette Binoche and Denis Lavant walking through a tiled subway corridor. The enormous white title LES AMANTS DU PONT-NEUF cuts across the centre of the sheet, turning the film’s French title into the dominant graphic element.

The poster’s visual structure is clean, contemporary, and highly theatrical: the upper and lower images echo each other, creating a sense of memory, repetition, and emotional collapse. The left-side Japanese tagline reads 「愛は眠らない」“Love Never Sleeps.” The lower left carries the CARAX 4K mark, identifying it clearly as part of the Japanese Leos Carax restoration release.

The Japanese poster design was handled by acclaimed graphic designer Idea Oshima / 大島依提亜, known for his elegant, typography-led work for contemporary art-house cinema releases in Japan.

Rarity and significance
Original Japanese B2 posters for modern 4K restoration releases are produced for a much more limited theatrical circuit than mainstream first-release campaigns. This poster is especially desirable because it connects one of the most important French films of the 1990s with a highly regarded contemporary Japanese design treatment.

For collectors of Leos Carax, Juliette Binoche, Denis Lavant, French art-house cinema, and modern Japanese film-poster design, this is a very strong and visually refined piece.
