Sale price $350.00

This is an original Japanese B2 promotional poster printed in 1992 for Porco Rosso (紅の豚 / Kurenai no Buta), Hayao Miyazaki’s beloved Studio Ghibli aviation adventure. It is an official Japanese goods / tie-in poster issued around the film’s original release period, with the lower border carrying the period copyright and licensing line © 二馬力・TNNG / 1992 · MOVIC.

Film background
Released in 1992, Porco Rosso was written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki and produced by Studio Ghibli. Set around the Adriatic Sea between the wars, the film follows Porco, a former fighter ace mysteriously transformed into a pig, as he battles air pirates, repairs his aircraft, and reflects on honour, memory, and lost humanity. The Japanese voice cast includes Shūichirō Moriyama as Porco, Tokiko Kato as Gina, Akemi Okamura as Fio, and Akio Ōtsuka as Donald Curtis.

One of Miyazaki’s most personal films, Porco Rosso combines aviation romance, Mediterranean atmosphere, political melancholy, and warm character comedy. It remains one of Studio Ghibli’s most admired works, particularly among collectors drawn to Miyazaki’s fascination with aircraft and early twentieth-century design.

Poster design
A joyful and highly decorative official Japanese design, set against a brilliant blue sky filled with soft clouds and fantastical aircraft. Porco stands at centre in full flight gear, while an array of colourful seaplanes circles around him, creating a lively aerial composition that perfectly captures the film’s adventurous spirit.

The flowing red script “Porco Rosso” sits below the central figure, accompanied by Italian text that reinforces the film’s Mediterranean setting and romantic European tone. The image is bright, clean, and highly displayable, with a lighter and more whimsical quality than many standard theatrical designs.

This poster is especially appealing because it is not the common theatrical B2, but an official MOVIC / Studio Ghibli tie-in promotional poster from the film’s original 1992 period. Such official early Ghibli merchandise posters are increasingly sought after, particularly when preserved in strong condition.
