Original Japanese Steven Spielberg Movie Posters

Explore Japan Poster Shop’s extensive collection of original Japanese Steven Spielberg movie posters, featuring rare first-release theatrical artwork, celebrated Japanese illustrations and highly collectible posters associated with one of the most influential filmmakers in cinema history.

Steven Spielberg (born 1946) has played a defining role in modern filmmaking for more than five decades, directing and producing some of the most celebrated and commercially successful films ever made. From groundbreaking science fiction and adventure cinema to historical dramas and contemporary classics, his extraordinary career has produced some of the most recognisable images in international film advertising.

Our collection encompasses original Japanese theatrical posters for landmark Spielberg films including Jaws (1975), Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984), Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989), Jurassic Park (1993), Schindler’s List (1993) and Saving Private Ryan (1998), alongside later productions and other significant works from his filmography.

Of particular interest are the original Japanese theatrical campaigns for Jaws, E.T., Indiana Jones and Jurassic Park, which produced some of the most memorable and collectible movie posters of the late twentieth century. Japanese first-release examples are especially sought after for their distinctive typography, alternative compositions and artwork created specifically for the Japanese market.

Our holdings also celebrate films produced or executive-produced by Spielberg, including The Goonies (1985), Back to the Future (1985) and other influential productions associated with his career.

A particularly important aspect of Japanese Spielberg poster collecting is the extraordinary artwork of Noriyoshi Ohrai (生頼範義), whose celebrated illustrations for films including The Goonies represent some of the most distinctive examples of Japanese theatrical advertising. His intricate compositions, dramatic use of colour and exceptional attention to detail have become highly prized by international collectors.

Our collection includes original Japanese B2 and B1 theatrical posters, rare first-release examples, advance promotional designs, unused posters, exceptionally scarce large-format billboards and unusual advertising variants. Certain early Japanese theatrical posters and limited-distribution promotional formats survive in comparatively small numbers, making exceptional examples increasingly difficult to acquire.

From the revolutionary suspense of Jaws and the imaginative worlds of E.T. and Jurassic Park to the adventure cinema of Indiana Jones, these original Japanese posters represent an important intersection of Hollywood filmmaking, Japanese graphic design and the visual history of modern cinema.

Every poster offered by Japan Poster Shop is an authentic original, carefully sourced in Japan and individually catalogued. We do not sell reproductions. All posters are accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, with worldwide DHL Express shipping available from our gallery in Tokyo.
