“Schindler’s List” (シンドラーのリスト), Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 1993, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) N238
This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1993 for the first theatrical release of Schindler’s List, Steven Spielberg’s landmark historical drama.
Schindler’s List tells the true story of Oskar Schindler (Liam Neeson), a German industrialist who saved the lives of more than 1,100 Jews during the Holocaust by employing them in his factories. Featuring Ben Kingsley as Itzhak Stern and Ralph Fiennes as the brutal SS officer Amon Göth, the film is both a harrowing depiction of human cruelty and a profound testament to courage and compassion. Spielberg’s stark black-and-white cinematography, combined with John Williams’ haunting score, makes the film one of the most powerful works in modern cinema.
The film was an overwhelming critical and commercial success, winning seven Academy Awards (including Best Picture and Best Director), as well as three Golden Globes and seven BAFTAs. It is regarded as one of the greatest films ever made.
Poster design
The Japanese B2 poster mirrors the film’s emotional gravity. Dominated by the iconic image of clasped hands overlaid with Schindler’s list of names, it also features a haunting image of deported Jews marching along railway tracks.
