This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1963 for the first release of High and Low.
This poster is in excellent condition and been stored very carefully for 58 years.
This almost 5′ tall STB poster is one of the best for the film. The tatekan STB format had much lower print numbers compared to regular Japanese B2s. They are very rare, especially for more popular film titles, and are highly sought after by collectors today.
High & Low stars Kurosawa’s brother-from-another-mother, Toshiro Mifune, as Kingo Gondo, a wealthy business exec (erai hito 偉い人)who is targeted by a ice cold kidnapper! Kurosawa has again successfully adapted a foreign film basing this on Ed McBain’s detective novel “King’s Ransom”.
