This is an original Japanese B2 poster for Mobile Suit Gundam II: Soldiers of Sorrow (機動戦士ガンダムII 哀・戦士編), the second of Yoshiyuki Tomino’s theatrical compilation films re-editing the landmark 1979–80 TV series into a big-screen trilogy, released in Japan by Shochiku on 11 July 1981.
Design
A dramatic, painterly “real robot” tableau: the RX-78 Gundam advances in three-quarter view with beam sabre raised, facing a Zeon mobile suit beneath a star-filled sky and roiling battlefield smoke. The composition is all weight, metallic sheen, and spotlighted edges—an image that captures Gundam’s defining tension between heroic iconography and the grim reality of war.
