This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1976 for the first theatrical release of Mitsuo Yanagimachi’s black-and-white 16 mm documentary God Speed You! Black Emperor, which follows members of the bōsōzoku motorcycle club “Black Emperors” and their clashes with family and police during Japan’s 1970s biker boom.

Design
A stark two-panel statement in monochrome and blood-red type: the top half features a night street photograph of two riders astride a bike beside an imperial-style banner, with a scrawled “God speed you!” across the asphalt. Below, the monumental title BLACK EMPEROR. (outlined in red) crowns a confronting portrait of a shaved-head youth marked with a swastika motif—an unvarnished snapshot of subculture bravado. Minimal credits and an Eirin mark sit along the base.
