"Gone in 60 Seconds" (バニシング IN 60), Original Japanese First-Release Movie Poster 1975 (for 1974 film), B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) O270
This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1975 for H. B. Halicki’s independent car-heist phenomenon Gone in 60 Seconds (1974). Written, produced, directed by and starring Halicki—who also performed his own stunts—the film built its legend on a towering 40-minute chase that demolished 93 cars, as a yellow Mustang codenamed “Eleanor” outruns 48 police units across Southern California. The picture became a cult classic, later inspiring the 2000 remake; the Japanese first-issue materials are scarce and highly coveted.
Film background
Halicki plays insurance investigator and master car thief Maindrian Pace, tasked with stealing 48 specific vehicles in five days. Shot largely on location with real police/fire crews, the film’s vérité mayhem, low-budget ingenuity, and Mustang-mythmaking secured its place in automotive cinema history.
Poster design
A kinetic photo-montage that feels like a crash in progress: Eleanor bucks through frame mid-impact, debris flying, while a strip of highway carnage crowns the top. At right, a close-up of Halicki in helmet and goggles nods to the film’s stunt-driven bravado. Bold red copy shouts the campaign hook:
「1台の黄色いムスタングを追って… 史上空前、93台が激突する、一大カーチェイスが今、凄絶に始まった」
Further lines tout the 48 patrol cars and the coast-spanning pursuit, while the chrome title 「バニシング IN 60"」 slams across the footer above the English slug GONE IN 60 SECONDS. The credit block lists Halicki and principal crew, with 映倫 and domestic distributor marks confirming first release.
