“25th Hour” / 「25時」, Original Japanese Release Movie Poster 2003, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) ZA883

Sale price $110.00

This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed for the 2003 Japanese release of 25th Hour / 「25時」, the acclaimed drama directed by Spike Lee and starring Edward Norton, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Barry Pepper, Rosario Dawson, Anna Paquin, and Brian Cox.

A sombre and elegant Japanese poster for one of Spike Lee’s most powerful early-2000s films, this design captures the film’s atmosphere of regret, reflection, and impending consequence with unusual restraint.

Film background
Originally released in 2002, 25th Hour follows Monty Brogan, a New York man facing his final day of freedom before beginning a seven-year prison sentence for drug dealing. Over the course of his last 24 hours, Monty revisits his fractured relationships, spends time with his father and closest friends, and confronts the choices that led him to this point.

Directed by Spike Lee and adapted by David Benioff from his own novel, the film is widely admired for its emotional gravity, its portrait of post-9/11 New York, and Edward Norton’s restrained central performance.

Poster design
The poster uses a stark, contemplative layout. The upper image shows Edward Norton walking his dog along a city sidewalk, rendered in a muted sepia tone that gives the design a quiet, reflective mood.

At the top, the Japanese tagline reads:

「俺に残された 最後の自由な24時間」
“The final 24 hours of freedom left to me.”

The lower third shifts dramatically into a solid red block, across which the title 「25時」 appears in large, rough-edged black typography. The design is simple but highly effective: one man, one city, one final day.

The lower text highlights the film’s international recognition, including its Berlin International Film Festival selection and awards-season attention.
