“Any Which Way You Can” / “Dirty Fighter: Moe yo Tekken” (ダーティファイター 燃えよ鉄拳), Original Japanese Movie Poster 1980, Clint Eastwood, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) G28
This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster for Any Which Way You Can (ダーティファイター 燃えよ鉄拳), the 1980 action-comedy starring Clint Eastwood as Philo Beddoe.
The film is the sequel to Every Which Way But Loose, again pairing Eastwood with his unforgettable orangutan companion Clyde, and combining bare-knuckle fighting, biker gangs, road-movie comedy, country music, and offbeat action entertainment.
Film background
Directed by Buddy Van Horn, Any Which Way You Can continues the adventures of Philo Beddoe, a trucker and fighter drawn back into chaos after trying to move on from his old life. The film features Clint Eastwood, Sondra Locke, Geoffrey Lewis, William Smith, Ruth Gordon, and Clyde the orangutan.
A major commercial success, the film belongs to a very particular moment in Eastwood’s career: rough, comic, populist, and larger-than-life, far removed from the austere Westerns and crime films with which he is often associated.
Poster design
This Japanese B2 features dynamic key artwork by Bob Peak, one of the most important American movie-poster illustrators of the twentieth century. Peak’s energetic, high-contrast style is perfectly suited to the film’s mixture of action, comedy, and chaotic character spectacle.
The composition is dominated by a powerful illustrated portrait of Clint Eastwood, his gaze direct and severe, with Clyde the orangutan perched behind him. Below, a cascading montage of characters and action scenes captures the film’s rowdy tone: bikers, fighters, guns, vehicles, Sondra Locke, Ruth Gordon, and the colourful world surrounding Philo Beddoe.
The Japanese vertical copy reads:
「K.O続出!史上最強の男は誰だ!」
“K.O. after K.O.! Who is the strongest man in history?”
Additional copy promotes the gathering of mafia figures, biker gangs, killer fighters, and other dangerous characters, framing the film as an explosive comic-action showdown.
The Japanese title ダーティファイター appears in large black katakana across the lower section, with the fiery red subtitle 燃えよ鉄拳 beneath it — roughly “Burn, Iron Fist.” The bright yellow-orange background gives the poster tremendous impact and a distinctly late-1970s / early-1980s energy.
