“Bambi” (バンビ), Tokyo Disneyland Commemorative Re‑Release Japanese Movie Poster 1982, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) ZA390
This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in the 1982 for a special re‑release of Walt Disney’s Bambi (1942), timed to coincide with events celebrating the opening of Tokyo Disneyland. Contemporary flyers promoted double bills of Bambi and The Fox and the Hound as part of “Tokyo Disneyland opening commemorative programmes,” and the logo on this poster reflects that connection.
Film background
Bambi is Disney’s coming‑of‑age masterpiece, following a young deer—the “Prince of the Forest”—from birth through the joys and tragedies of growing up in the wild. Under the guidance of his mother and with the help of friends Thumper and Flower, Bambi learns about the cycles of nature, love and loss. The film’s painterly backgrounds and emotional storytelling have made it a landmark of animation and one of Disney’s most acclaimed works.
Poster design
The artwork is an explosion of classic Disney warmth. Center stage, a wide‑eyed Bambi stretches up to investigate a butterfly perched on his tail, while Thumper, Flower and two chipmunks watch from the forest floor. The scene is bathed in golden light against a deep green woodland backdrop, capturing the film’s blend of innocence and natural beauty. A vertical block of Japanese copy on the left sells Bambi’s “moving growth” against the backdrop of untamed nature, and the title “バンビ” sweeps across the bottom in large teal and red letters. At lower left the Tokyo Disneyland castle and badge mark this as a special tie‑in screening, while three circular vignettes along the bottom edge offer glimpses of key dramatic moments from the film.
