Black Orpheus was a very intellectually clever film conceived by Marcel Camus based on one of the most sad stories romantic stories of the ancient world - Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice.
Marcel decided to unconventionally set the film during the turbulent Carnival in Rio de Janeiro.
This movie has an abundance of amazing costumes and fantastic killer bossa nova music.
Critics and audiences were completely blown away and it won the the Academy Award for best foreign-language film and the Cannes Film Festival Palme d`Or in 1959.
This almost 5′ tall STB poster features breathtaking artwork from the super famous Japanese illustrator Hisamitsu Noguchi. The tatekan STB format had much lower print numbers compared to regular Japanese B2s. They are very rare, especially for more popular film titles, and are highly sought after by collectors today.
