“Casablanca”, Original Re‑Release Japanese Movie Poster 1962, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) O109
This is an original Japanese B2 (半裁) poster printed in 1962 for the post‑war re‑release of Casablanca (カサブランカ)—Michael Curtiz’s immortal romance starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. Winner of the Academy Awards for Best Picture, Director, and Screenplay, the 1942 classic became a touchstone of studio‑era craft, its wartime intrigue and fatal‑romantic dialogue defining Hollywood’s golden age for generations.
Why this example is exceptional (design & demand)
Among the many international campaigns, the 1962 Japanese design is a standout—and our personal favourite. A luminous portrait of Bergman dominates the field, set against a dusk‑blue sky; below, Bogart ascends a stair in white dinner jacket, framed by a Moorish arch that opens onto the city and palm. A colossal vertical scarlet logotype「カサブランカ」 slices the right margin, balanced by a neon‑green copy column along the left and bilingual micro‑credits at top. The composition fuses Hollywood glamour with Japanese poster craft—elegant, cinematic, and highly displayable. Scarce in any grade, especially this condition.

"If not the greatest, Casablanca is certainly one of the greatest films of all time, and nearly all the posters for this title have been on fire lately! In fact, many posters have doubled (some of the US formats have quadrupled!) in value over the last few years."
