"Godspell" (ゴッドスペル), Original Japanese First-Release Movie Poster 1973, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) ZA141
This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1973 for David Greene’s film adaptation of the hit stage musical Godspell, featuring the New York original cast with songs by Stephen Schwartz. A joyful, counter-culture parable staged across Manhattan, the movie became an emblem of early-’70s optimism and spiritual pop.
Design
A radiant New York cityscape under a sunset sky: the troupe bursts down a canyon of skyscrapers with the Twin Towers rising in the distance, waving placards and costume pieces in a street-parade of color. The groovy, rainbow GODSPELL logo sprawls across the base above the bold katakana title 「ゴッドスペル」, while playful vertical copy at left and right frames the image—pure early-’70s feel-good iconography.
