This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster produced for the first Japanese cinema release of Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack (ゴジラ・モスラ・キングギドラ 大怪獣総攻撃), released nationwide by Toho on 15 December 2001. Directed by Shusuke Kaneko, the film is the 25th entry in the Godzilla series and the third film of the Millennium era, with music by Kow Otani and a cast including Chiharu Niiyama, Ryudo Uzaki, Masahiro Kobayashi, Shiro Sano and Hideyo Amamoto.
Often abbreviated by collectors as GMK, the film presents one of the darkest interpretations of Godzilla: a destructive supernatural force confronted by Japan’s three ancient Guardian Monsters — Baragon, Mothra and King Ghidorah. The story culminates in a vast confrontation around Yokohama as the three sacred beasts rise against Godzilla.
Poster design
A spectacular illustrated first-release composition dominated by Godzilla roaring at the centre against an apocalyptic orange-and-gold sky. Behind him rises the enormous three-headed King Ghidorah, while Mothra spreads her wings across the centre and Baragon emerges from the flames below.
The Yokohama skyline, including the distinctive Landmark Tower, anchors the monsters in the film’s climactic urban setting. The composition compresses virtually the entire mythology of the film into a single image: Godzilla as the black, destructive centre of gravity, surrounded by the three vividly illuminated Guardian Monsters.
The intense palette of orange, gold, black and crimson gives the poster enormous visual impact, while the painted treatment of the monsters and burning city creates an almost apocalyptic atmosphere.
Across the top appears the unforgettable campaign line:
「生き残るのは誰だ！」
— “Who will survive?!”
Beneath it, the copy announces:
「破壊神ゴジラ日本上陸」
— approximately “Godzilla, the god of destruction, lands in Japan.”
The accompanying text continues the mythic framing of the film, declaring that the gods of heaven, sea and earth have risen to oppose him.
The combination of Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah and Baragon together on a single sheet, the blazing Yokohama setting and the extraordinary illustrated composition makes this one of the most visually impressive Japanese Godzilla posters of the early 2000s.
It is nearly 25 years old!
Condition
Very Good+ to Excellent. The poster retains exceptionally strong colour saturation, with the fiery orange and yellow background, deep blacks and richly rendered monster imagery remaining extremely vivid. There are some minor signs of age and handling, but no significant issue detracts from the central artwork or principal typography. Once framed, it will display exceptionally well.
