“Gold” (ゴールド), Original Japanese Movie Poster 1975, First Release, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) O88

Sale price $100.00

This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1975 for the first domestic theatrical release of Gold (ゴールド), a British–South African disaster thriller directed by Peter R. Hunt and released in Japan by Shochiku and Fuji Eiga. Japanese first-issue sheets for Roger Moore’s non-Bond titles are collected widely by both Bond fans and ’70s disaster-cinema enthusiasts.

Film background
Adapted from Wilbur Smith’s novel, Gold follows mine overseer Rod Slater (Roger Moore) as corporate sabotage triggers a catastrophic flood in a South African gold mine—an attempt to rig world prices. Hunt, the former James Bond editor/director (On Her Majesty’s Secret Service), stages large-scale practical set-pieces; the cast includes Susannah York, Ray Milland, Bradford Dillman, John Gielgud, Tony Beckley, and Simon Sabela.

Poster design
A dramatic painted tableau shows miners battling a roaring underground deluge, capturing the film’s central disaster sequence. At upper left, three inset stills highlight Moore, York, and key story beats, while bold vertical copy on the right pitches the picture as a grand spectacle “since 007.” The hefty 3-D rock-hewn title “GOLD” sits above the oversized katakana logotype 「ゴールド」 on a green ground. The Eirin censorship mark appears at lower right, confirming first-release domestic issue.
