“Kill la Kill” / 「キルラキル」, Original Japanese “Not For Sale” B2 Promotional Poster 2014, Episode 25 「さよならをもう一度」 / “Goodbye Again”, Studio Trigger / Hiroyuki Imaishi / Kazuki Nakashima / Sushio, B2 Size (approx. 51 × 73 cm) Q289
This is a very rare original Japanese B2 promotional poster for Kill la Kill / 「キルラキル」, marked NOT FOR SALE at the lower right.
This specific poster dates to 2014 and was produced to promote the release of the final Japanese Blu-ray / DVD Volume 9, which included the TV-unaired Episode 25 OVA, 「さよならをもう一度」 — “Goodbye Again”. Volume 9 was released on 3 September 2014, placing this poster within the original promotional window for the series’ final home-video release.
As a hibaihin / not-for-sale B2 poster, it was not a standard retail item. It would have been used for Japanese store promotion, event display, or distributed in connection with pre-order / release-campaign activity during the weeks leading up to the September 2014 release. This same key visual was also used in the August 2014 issue of Newtype Magazine, where it helped build anticipation for the finale and the release of the concluding OVA.
Series background
Produced by Studio Trigger, Kill la Kill is one of the defining original anime series of the 2010s. Directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi, written by Kazuki Nakashima, and featuring character design by Sushio, the series brought together the creative force behind Gurren Lagann with the newly established visual identity of Studio Trigger.
The story follows Ryuko Matoi, a transfer student armed with a giant scissor blade, as she confronts the authoritarian world of Honnouji Academy and its fearsome student council president, Satsuki Kiryuin. What begins as a hyper-stylised school battle anime becomes a larger satire of clothing, power, conformity, shame, rebellion, and self-definition.
Episode 25, 「さよならをもう一度」, functions as the post-finale farewell chapter. It is the epilogue to the main 24-episode television run, showing the characters after the central conflict has ended and giving the series a final moment of closure.
Poster design
This B2 poster features the distinctive epilogue visual associated with Kill la Kill’s final chapter. Ryuko Matoi stands at the front of the composition in civilian clothing and her sukajan-style jacket, no longer presented in her combat uniform. This is an important visual shift, suggesting the end of her fighting days and the beginning of life beyond the events of the series.
Behind her stands Satsuki Kiryuin, shown with short hair — a major visual change associated with the conclusion of the story and her symbolic break from the past. The supporting cast are arranged across the background, including the Elite Four and other key figures from the series.
The image is set against a dramatic collapsed architectural landscape, giving the poster a strong post-battle atmosphere. The composition feels calmer and more reflective than many earlier Kill la Kill visuals: still bold, graphic, and unmistakably Trigger, but now carrying the feeling of aftermath, closure, and farewell.
At the top, the title 「キルラキル」 appears in enormous red lettering, with KILL la KILL printed beneath. The typography is aggressive, oversized, and immediately recognizable, echoing the series’ famous use of monumental red text and emphatic graphic impact.
At the lower right, the poster is printed NOT FOR SALE, confirming its status as a limited promotional object rather than standard commercial merchandise.
Identification and rarity
This poster is best understood as a 2014 original Japanese promotional B2 poster connected to the final Blu-ray / DVD Volume 9 campaign and the release of Episode 25, “Goodbye Again.”
Its NOT FOR SALE marking is significant. In Japan, B2 promotional posters of this kind were generally produced for shop display, release promotion, or campaign distribution, and were not sold directly to the public. As a result, surviving examples are considerably rarer than ordinary retail posters or later decorative prints.
The connection to the final volume also gives the poster special importance. Rather than advertising the start of the series, it captures Kill la Kill at its closing point — the epilogue image, the post-battle cast arrangement, and the farewell moment attached to the final OVA.
Collector significance
Its appeal lies in the combination of rarity, format, timing, and visual significance. This is not a generic character poster, but a large-format promotional piece tied to the final stage of the original Kill la Kill release cycle.
For collectors, it preserves one of the series’ most meaningful images: Ryuko and Satsuki after the storm, with the cast gathered in an epilogue composition that marks the emotional conclusion of the work. As a B2 hibaihin poster from 2014, it is now over a decade old and increasingly difficult to find in excellent condition.
