This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1959 for the first release of Magic Boy. This is the oldest anime poster that we have ever had in our gallery and one of the first made by Toho - this is a piece of Japanese anime history.
Magic Boy, known in Japan as Shōnen Sarutobi Sasuke (少年猿飛佐助, "The Boy Sarutobi Sasuke"), is a 1959 Japanese animated feature film released on December 25, 1959. Released as Toei Animation's second theatrical anime, the film was released in theaters in United States by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer on June 22, 1961, making it the first anime film to be released in the country, followed by The Tale of the White Serpent on July 8, 1961.
This poster is in very good condition. It has signs of use consistent with its age! This poster was previously folded and subsequently stored flat for many years. Please refer to the imagery (both front and back) as this is the exact poster that is for sale.
