This is an original Japanese STB tatekan (two-panel standing) poster issued in Japan for a 1969 theatrical re-release of My Fair Lady (1964), George Cukor’s lavish screen adaptation of the Lerner & Loewe musical—starring Audrey Hepburn as Eliza Doolittle and Rex Harrison as Professor Higgins (with Stanley Holloway and Wilfrid Hyde-White).

Importantly, this sheet can be confidently identified as the 1969 re-release version by the inclusion of the Oscar statuette graphic and award call-outs—elements not present on the original first-release Japanese STB. That small detail is the telltale marker collectors look for, and it places this poster squarely in the later “award-celebration” reissue campaign rather than the initial roadshow-era release.

Poster design
An elegant, display-forward design centred on Hepburn’s iconic Ascot look—full-length in white lace with dramatic black-and-white ribboning—framed by bold purple panels and premium technical billing: “70mm” and “TECHNICOLOR / SUPER PANAVISION” across the header. The Japanese title マイ・フェア・レディ is set in large, vivid pink type for maximum lobby impact, while the lower photo inset (Eliza and Higgins) anchors the romance and prestige tone. In STB format, the composition reads like a vertical fashion plate—pure Audrey glamour, engineered to stop foot traffic outside the cinema.

Condition
Good overall. Theatre-used and offered strictly as-found, with handling wear consistent with large-format cinema display and long-term storage: edge wear, corner/edge tears and small losses, scattered creasing, and areas of old tape reinforcement visible (see photos, including the reverse). Despite these issues, the poster remains highly displayable and exceptionally scarce in STB tatekan format—condition has been fully taken into account in the pricing.
