"Studio Ghibli – Animage Records ‘Flying Scenes’", Original Japanese Promotional Poster 1992, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) N79
This is an original Japanese B2 promotional poster issued in 1992 by Animage Records / Tokuma Japan Communications to advertise Studio Ghibli soundtrack releases.
Background
Issued the year of Porco Rosso (1992), this crossover design celebrates Ghibli’s sky-soaring heroes: Kiki with Jiji (Kiki’s Delivery Service, 1989), Totoro with Mei & Satsuki (My Neighbor Totoro, 1988), Nausicaä on her Möwe glider (1984), Pazu & Sheeta on the flapter (Castle in the Sky, 1986), and Porco’s Savoia S-21 overhead. Ghibli’s obsession with flight and freedom is all here in one jubilant composition.
Poster design
A bright, cloud-streaked sky frames a montage of classic flying machines and spirits. Lower-left credit box reads ANIMAGE RECORDS with catalog refs TKCA-30706 / TKTA-20266 and the issuer Tokuma Japan Communications. The rights line along the lower margin lists 二馬力 (Nibariki), 徳間書店 (Tokuma Shoten), 博報堂 (Hakuhodo), 角野栄子 (Eiko Kadono), and TNNG/1992, covering the different films—excellent confirmation of period authenticity.
